Gair gan y Cadeiryddes - A word from the Chairlady

Croeso i wefan Ysgol y Lawnt :-

Lleolir Ysgol y Lawnt yng nghanol pentre’ Rhymni ar ben uchaf y cwm. Mae'r ysgol yn darparu addysg cyfrwng Cymraeg i blant sy'n dod o nifer o bentrefi i ogledd Bargoed ac yn ymestyn o Butetown i Dderi. Caerffili yw'r awdurdod addysg leol. Symudodd yr ysgol i'r lleoliad hwn ym 1992 i feddiannu adeilad a safle oedd unwaith yn perthyn i'r Meistr Haearn lleol. Mae'r safle'n helaeth gyda thiroedd sy'n cynnwys nifer o ardaloedd chwarae, llefydd i ymlacio, gerddi a choedwig.

Ar hyn o bryd, mae 214 o ddisgyblion rhwng tair ac un ar ddeg ar y gofrestr, ffigwr sydd yn cynnwys 35 o blant oed meithrin rhan amser. Daw'r mwyafrif ohonynt o dref Rhymni ei hun ac mae bysus yn cludo disgyblion o bentrefi cyfagos. Rhannwyd y disgyblion mewn i wyth dosbarth. Daw tua 94% o'r disgyblion o gartrefi lle mae Saesneg yw'r brif iaith.

Mae dalgylch yr ysgol ymysg y rhai mwyaf difreintiedig yng Nghymru. Mae 20% o ddisgyblion yn gymwys i dderbyn prydau ysgol am ddim, ffigwr sy'n debyg i leoliadau cenedlaethol a lleol. Ers i'r ysgol gael ei harolygu diwethaf yn 2014, rydym yn falch i hysbysu ein bod wedi derbyn llawer o

Wobrau, gan gynnwys gwobr Platinwm Eco, statws Masnach Deg, ar 5ed gwobr am Ysgolion Iach. Rydym ni hefyd wedi ennill gwobr Arian y Siarter Iaith a gwobr y Criw Mentrus – fenter busnes i ysgolion cynradd gan Lywodraeth Cymru. Rydym yn parhau i weithio gyda Sustrans.

Croeso i wefan Ysgol y Lawnt :-

Ysgol y Lawnt is located in the centre of the town of Rhymney at the upper end of the Rhymney valley. The school provides Welsh medium education for children who come from a number of villages to the north of Bargoed town and extends from Butetown to Deri. Caerphilly is the local education authority (LEA). The school moved to this location in 1992 occupying a building and site that once belonged to the local Iron Master. The site is extensive with grounds that include numerous play areas, places to sit, grassed areas and a forest.

Currently, there are 214 pupils aged between three and eleven on roll, a figure that includes the equivalent of 35 part time nursery aged children. The majority come from the town of Rhymney itself; buses transport pupils from neighbouring villages. Pupils are divided into eight classes. Around 94% of the pupils come from homes where English is the main language.

The school’s catchment area is amongst the most deprived in Wales. Despite this, 20% of pupils are eligible for free school meals, a figure that is similar to local and national percentages.

Since the school was last inspected in 2014, we are proud to have achieved many awards and further gained Platinum Eco School and Fairtrade status. Ysgol y Lawnt has achieved it 5th Healthy School’s award and we continue to work with Sustrans. We have also achieved the Silver award for Siarter Iaith and a Welsh Government Enterprise Award.
